Shopify Developer

DevFull-timeRemote (UK/Europe)

About the role

We're looking for a skilled Shopify Developer to join our team and help deliver high-quality builds across everything we do.

You'll work across a range of work — from full theme builds and large-scale redesigns to section-level development, landing pages, and CRO test implementations. You'll translate high-fidelity Figma designs into accurate, production-ready Shopify code, working closely with designers, CRO specialists, and account managers with a focus on performance, scalability, and attention to detail.

About That Works

We're not trying to be the biggest Shopify agency in the world, just the best.

That Works is a performance-focused Shopify agency working with high-growth DTC brands across CRO, design, and custom theme builds. We partner with ambitious e-commerce brands and care deeply about how development quality, CRO thinking, and execution standards directly impact revenue.

What you'll be doing

Shopify development

  • Build across a variety of work: full Shopify theme builds, section development, landing pages, and CRO test implementations
  • Translate high-fidelity Figma designs into accurate, production-ready Shopify themes and sections
  • Build with CRO, performance, and scalability in mind
  • Ensure development aligns closely with design intent and UX decisions

Modern Shopify practices

  • Work primarily within Shopify 2.0 and the Horizon framework
  • Apply best practices for modern Shopify development
  • Adapt quickly as Shopify's ecosystem and tooling evolves

CRO-aware execution

  • Understand the intent behind CRO-led designs
  • Build components and sections that support experimentation and iteration
  • Collaborate with CRO specialists to ensure implementations support testing and optimisation
  • Avoid rigid or fragile implementations that block future growth

Technical expectations

  • Shopify Liquid and Shopify 2.0 architecture
  • Modern Shopify theme development practices
  • Horizon framework concepts and implementation
  • GitHub and version control workflows
  • Non-destructive development practices
  • Clean, maintainable, and scalable code

Attention to detail (non-negotiable)

  • Designs are created in Figma and must be implemented faithfully
  • Builds should feel like a one-to-one translation of the design intent
  • Spacing, layout, interactions, and responsiveness all matter

AI-assisted development

We are an AI-first agency and actively encourage responsible use of AI to improve efficiency and quality.

We're particularly interested in developers who:

  • Actively experiment with AI-assisted development workflows
  • Use tools such as Cursor, Claude, or similar to speed up problem-solving
  • Treat AI as an aid, not a replacement for good engineering

What we're looking for

You are:

  • A mid-to-senior Shopify developer
  • Comfortable working across different types of output — full builds, sections, CRO implementations
  • A strong problem solver who can adapt when requirements evolve
  • Detail-oriented and quality-driven
  • Reliable, communicative, and deadline-focused

You have:

  • Proven experience developing for Shopify
  • Strong knowledge of the Shopify ecosystem
  • Experience collaborating with designers and CRO teams
  • Experience working to defined scopes and timelines

Working pattern & benefits

  • Fully remote role
  • UK-based preferred, European candidates welcome
  • Full-time position
  • 20 days holiday plus bank holidays (UK)
  • Annual team trip abroad
  • Occasional UK meetups
  • Opportunity to work across a diverse range of high-profile DTC brands
